The State Election Commission (SEC) on Monday assured the Karnataka High Court that it will produce by Friday the fresh calendar of events for holding elections to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
The Counsel for the SEC made the submission in this regard after a Division Bench comprising acting Chief Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee and Justice B.V. Nagarathna questioned the conduct of the SEC, though there was no specific order from the Supreme Court to postpone the elections.
The Bench pointed out that the Apex Court had only granted eight weeks’ time to complete the BBMP election process.
The Bench adjourned further hearing on a PIL filed by C.K. Muralidhar and others till Friday to enable the SEC to submit the calendar of events.
