The president of an educational trust has filed a complaint against the secretary of the trust for allegedly threatening him after he discovered that funds amounting to ₹16 lakh had been misappropriated.

The complainant, Syed Yaseen Munavar, told the police that the accused, Rafiulla, apart from being the secretary of the trust was also in charge of an international school in Chamundi Nagar. Early this year, he had been arrested by the police in a cheating case and had been remanded in judicial custody. He later made bail.

During his absence, Munavar took charge of the school. Upon auditing the accounts, he found that funds had been misappropriated. The audit allegedly revealed that Rafiulla had misused the admission fees, and had not paid vendors who provided uniforms and text books to students.

“The accused had not even paid rent for the school building,” he told the police in his complaint.

After securing bail, Rafiulla visited the school on Tuesday along with his associates, and allegedly stopped Munavar from entering the premises and threatened him. He allegedly created a ruckus and did not allow even students and the staff to enter the school.

Based on a complaint by Munavar, the R.T. Nagar police have taken up a case against Rafiulla and three others. They have been charged with criminal intimidation, criminal breach of trust, and wrongful restraint under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
