An enforcement drive by the Transport Department on Tuesday resulted in the seizing of a Rolls Royce for non-payment of Karnataka tax.

The car, which was registered in Maharashtra in 2010, had been plying in the State for over a year, officials said.

The drive was conducted at Sadashivnagar, Manyatha Tech Park, Esteem Mall, Hebbal, and Goraguntepalya. More than 1,500 vehicles were checked and 100 booked for various offences. Other vehicles which were seized included several Puducherry-registered cars.

“Permit violations and non-payment of tax besides defective number plates were also checked,” said Narendra Holkar, Joint Commissioner (Transport).
