Retired army officer duped

A 66-year-old retired lieutenant colonel was allegedly duped by two people who availed of a bank loan by submitting forged documents of a flat he owned in Basavanagar, Thalacauvery Layout.

The victim, Omprakash, lodged a complaint with the HAL police on Saturday accusing Ojha R.K. and Singh D.N. of cheating him. In his complaint, he said that he had purchased the apartment in 2005 and has been living there with his family after retiring from service.

On December 14, 2017, Omprakash received a notice from a private finance firm asking him to clear dues failing which they would take over his property. On enquiring with the company he learnt about a loan availed by Ojha and Singh. The duo had submitted property documents of his flat in Basavanagar.

Omprakash tried reaching out to Ojha and Singh after getting their details from the company. He tracked them down and confronted him, but in vain. He then approached the HAL police who have registered a case of cheating and criminal intimidation.
