Residents of HRBR Layout anxious

May 03, 2015 07:53 am | Updated 07:53 am IST - Bengaluru:

Anxiety has gripped many residents of HRBR Layout, as threat of demolition of their houses looms.

Developed by Bangalore Development Authority in 1988–89, 222 sites formed on 14.27 acres have been found to be on the lake-bed. For many, the lifetime savings have been invested on properties, which are now being termed as illegal.

However, the administration on Saturday desisted from demolition of residential buildings since it has sought clarity from the State government.

Meanwhile, a senior BDA official said, “The BDA has acquired the area through government notification after the latter deleted the area as lake. We have acquired the land under due legal procedure. We will clarify to the district administration in this regard,” said a senior officer.
