RBI to issue coins of Rs. 10 denomination

The Reserve Bank of India will shortly put Rs. 10 denomination coins into circulation to commemorate International Yoga Day. According to a release, the obverse face of the coin will bear the Lion Capital of Ashoka in the centre with the legend Sathyameva Jayathe inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word Bharath in Devanagari script.

The right periphery will have the word India in English. On the reverse, the coin will bear the logo of International Day of Yoga, with the inscription ‘Samanjasya avam Shanti Ke Liye Yog’ in Devanagari script and Yoga for harmony and peace around the logo design. The date ‘June 21’ will be at the bottom of the logo. The existing coins in this denomination will also continue to be legal tender, said the release.
