Being marked absent, different results on different sites among complaints

The declaration of results of the II Pre-University (PU) exams brought little relief to some students and parents.

On Tuesday, unhappy students gathered in front of the Department of Pre-University Education office here complaining about errors in the marks cards and even the various websites displaying results. Among the scores of people streaming into the department was Ushmitha L. from JSS College, Jayanagar.

Armed with her hall ticket as proof, the distraught student spoke to The Hindu about how she was marked absent for the geography exam, despite having attended it.

As a result, she was declared failed in the crucial exam. “I have passed all subjects with third class marks. If I get marks in geography, I will pass with second class,” she said.

She is not applying for re-totalling or revaluation yet. She has been asked to submit the required documents and wait for a week. Another student complained of how four different websites displayed four different results, forcing her to knock on the doors of the DPUE as she did not know whether she had failed or passed.

People were also irked by the long period for which they had to wait to meet department officials.

Many present wanted to give revaluation a shot. Having scored 54 per cent, a student from the city said his accountancy and computer science papers were not evaluated correctly.

His classmate said he got 35, 37 and 40 marks in accountancy, economics and English, respectively, when he was expecting around 80 marks in each.

Appeal to students

Meanwhile, in a release, the DPUE has appealed to students to not view results on www.resultsat.com and www.resultsout.com — both of which displayed results erroneously.
