Private company dupes BMRCL

Submits fake documents to bag contract

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) has filed a cheating case against a private company for allegedly bagging a contract using fake documents.

Based on a complaint filed by Kiran M.S., Executive Engineer of BMRCL, the Wilson Garden police have filed an FIR against Vijay Energy Plus Pvt. Limited, charging them under cheating and forgery on Thursday.

In a complaint, Kiran said that the BMRCL had in July 2018 floated a tender to shift equipment of the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company along the stretch from Silk Board junction to K.R. Puram for the proposed metro work.

There were six companies which applied. Vijay Energy Plus Private Limited bagged the contract and was issued a certificate as the successful bidder allowing them to carry out the work.

The BMRCL asked the company to pay 10% of the total tender amount as deposit along with a performance bank guarantee from a nationalised bank. The company submitted the required documents on February 7.

When the BMRCL sent the documents to the bank concerned for verification, it learnt that the bank never issued such documents and termed it fake.

The Wilson Garden police are investigating.
