Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that power shortage in Karnataka is only a temporary phase and the government is working towards energy security for the State.
At an event here on Wednesday, he said, “The government is planning to add 22 Giga Watt (GW) of power by 2022, which includes both renewable and non-renewable energy.”
He said Karnataka’s power production capacity had improved. “We have seen reduction in energy deficiency from 14 per cent to 5 per cent in the last two years,” he said, and added that the State’s peak deficit at present was only 1.4 per cent.
