A man checked into a paying guest accommodation at Whitefield posing as a new tenant and stole two laptops, two phones and debit cards belonging to three software engineers. According to the victims, he also used one of the cards to siphon off ₹23,000 minutes after the theft.

The incident occurred in SNS PG accommodation at Pattandur Agrahara on Monday. The complainant , Anand Ravichandran, and his two roommates Yashodharan and Lokeshwaran said they were about to leave the room for lunch at 1 p.m. when a man knocked on their door. He introduced himself as their new roommate.

After greeting him and showing him around, the trio left for lunch. They returned to their room around 3 p.m. They immediately noticed that two laptops issued by their company were missing as also two mobile phones and their debit cards. There was no sign of their new ‘roommate’.

When they complained to the management and requested that they be given his address, they realised that the documents submitted by him were fake. The Whitefield police have taken up a case and efforts are on to track down the accused.
