Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday filed a complaint with the State Election Commission against the returning officer for changing the polling booth of a village, causing inconvenience to voters.
BJP spokesperson Suresh Kumar said the polling booth of Srinivasapura village in Yelahanka ward has been shifted to Jakkur ward and as a result, voters had to walk for 5 km to cast their votes.
Following the development, there is a growing resentment among residents who are threatening to boycott the BBMP polls, he said.
The returning officer sought a clarification from the Deputy Commissioner of Bengaluru Urban, who in turn referred the matter to the State Election Commission seeking necessary direction, Mr. Kumar. The Election Commission has promised to look into the matter and do the needful, he added.
