Nearly two days after two sisters from Ittamadu were washed away by flash floods at Chunchi Falls, near Kanakapura in Ramanagaram district, the Sathanur police, with help of local divers, recovered the body of Malini (18) on Tuesday.

Sources said that the body was found around six meters away on the banks and was covered with slush. The search for Shalini’s body had to be called off due to bad light.

Search to resume on Wednesday

Sources said that rescue operations would resume on Wednesday.

The sisters were among a team of seven who went to Chunchi Falls to celebrate the birthday of one of their cousins.

They had informed their parents that they would visit the Banashankari temple and return. However, they went to Chunchi with their acquaintances on three bikes. The sisters were washed away after water was released into the Arkavathi from Harobele dam.
