The Kempegowda International Airport police are on the lookout for a 30-year-old Omani national and her three minor children, who mysteriously disappeared after landing in Bengaluru more than a year ago in September 2017.

“We were alerted by the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman, New Delhi, on Friday. An First Information Report has been registered and efforts are on to track the family,” said a police officer.

Sources, however, admitted that it would not be easy to find out what happened, as the trail may have gone cold after so many months.

The woman has been identified as Pinjarewale Sabera Shaikh Husain (30), and her three children — a seven-year-old boy, and two girls aged 11 and four.

They landed at Kempegowda International Airport on September 5, 2017 from Oman and are missing since then.

According to the police, Ms. Husain’s family wrote to the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in New Delhi seeking help.

Alerted by embassy

“Embassy officials, in turn, alerted us. Based on a memo received by the airport police, a case has been opened,” said the police.

Investigators are now seeking more information and said they have reached out to embassy officials seeking information on Ms. Husain’s family and the purpose of her visit.

Alerts have been sent out to airports across the country.

“We have have also sought CCTV footage from the airport and are questioning the staff,” a police officer said.
