PID to be launched today

March 02, 2012 11:45 am | Updated 11:45 am IST - Bangalore:

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will launch its new property identity (PID) system on Friday. This will help the cash-starved civic body increase its tax collection.

The system was launched on a trial basis in January for five wards in the city — Pattabhiramanagar (Ward No. 168), Byrasandra (169), Subramanyanagar (66), Basaveshwaranagar (100) and Prakashnagar (98). The officials have now completed the demand-collection-balance (DCB) validation for all the 16.19 lakh properties in the city. Sources said that these properties were matched to the data captured by GIS (geographical information system). All the 92,000 roads/streets will be given unique identity numbers. The PID was given to each road/street and properties based on international standards. The new PID comprises of ward number, street ID and plot number. The system will help the BBMP's various departments monitor projects and services.
