Photographs of Gandhi, Ambedkar stolen from health university

May 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - BENGALURU:

When officials of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) opened the doors of their offices on Tuesday morning, they found something was amiss.

Among the things missing were photos of Gandhiji and B.R. Ambedkar.

Further enquiries revealed that a mobile phone and an audio recording device too were stolen. But no files or important documents were touched. The university has registered a complaint with the Tilak Nagar police station.

S. Sacchidananda, Registrar (Evaluation), RGUHS, said they were suspecting the involvement of insiders. “The locks were not damaged. Gold medals were untouched, so was a small amount of cash. It almost looks like a mischief,” he said.

This unusual robbery has prompted the varsity authorities to beef up security near their premises, with entry from the hospital side being tightened.
