A comprehensive land audit of all properties of Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has been ordered by Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister G. Parameshwara, who, on Saturday, set a deadline of March 2019 for the task.
“There is no clear picture of the extent of land under the control of the BDA. So the survey, a first of its kind, will be completed by March next,” he said after a review meeting.
The BDA had, in 2015, identified encroachment of over 3,300 acres of its land — land parcels that it had notified for the formation of 56 layouts but not used, leading to encroachment. The former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had proposed to regularise these encroachments by collecting a regularisation fee, but the proposal did not come through. The land audit will give a clear picture of the BDA land parcels that have been encroached upon, under litigation, and vacant.
Dr. Parameshwara said he had directed BDA officials to expedite the process of issuing notification for Shivaram Karanth Layout. “The High Court has directed the BDA to complete the notification for the Shivaram Karanth Layout and distribute sites in three months. Of the 3,546 acres of land earmarked for the layout, 800 acres of land is available and the remaining land has to be acquired by issuing a notification,” he said.
He said the government was committed to building the Peripheral Ring Road and making provision for a Namma Metro line in the middle of the 8-lane road. “The issue is under consideration within the BDA. The subject will be taken to the State Cabinet for approval shortly,” he said.
‘Vision 2050’ for Bengaluru
He also announced that ‘Vision 2050: Bengaluru’ would be created by revising the existing Vision 2030 plan. Hoskote, Doddaballapur, Anekal, and Dobbspet are proposed to be linked with a PRR-like road and townships will be built around the areas. This will help in reducing pressure on the city and also help in development of satellite towns around the city, he said.
