The government is contemplating facilitating cine-goers to carry outside food and water into multiplexes.

Minister for Food and Civil Supplies B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan on Tuesday said, “I will convene a meeting of officials and take the call on the issue soon.”

From August 1, film-goers in Maharashtra can carry food from outside into multiplexes. This issue had cropped up in the recently concluded legislative session. Actor-turned-politician Tara Anuradha raised the issue along with a host of other problems being faced by the film industry.

Ms. Tara Anuradha had also claimed that ticket prices in multiplexes of Karnataka are exorbitant compared to that in neighbouring Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
