Online enumeration likely

May 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:56 am IST - BENGALURU:

The government is thinking of uploading the caste census online to ensure universal coverage.

The online facility will be available only after May 10, the last date for enumerators to cover households in Bengaluru.

Online registration will help households, who were not covered by field enumerators during the month-long survey, Minister for Social Welfare H. Anjaneya said.

The department is working on a user-friendly software to enable households to get enumerated in the census, he said.

Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL) has established 184 data centres (one each in taluks and eight each in BBMP areas) and has hired 5,000 personnel as data entry operators for the caste census.
