A team of officials visited Bellandur and Varthur lakes to review the implementation of the recommendations of the NGT-appointed committee on Wednesday.

BBMP Commissioner B.H. Anil Kumar told The Hindu that the recommendations need to be implemented by multiple agencies, including BDA, BWSSB, Revenue Department, and Karnataka Slum Development Board. “We have set timelines for implementation of the recommendations for the various stakeholders,” he said.

Prominent among the issues discussed on Wednesday were shifting of residents of Ambedkar Colony, on the periphery of Bellandur Lake, fencing of Varthur Lake, installing CCTV cameras and deputing marshals. “The timelines for these is November 25,” Mr. Anil Kumar said.

The NGT committee, which was set up to oversee the protection and rejuvenation of the Agara, Bellandur and Varthur lakes, submitted its report to NGT in September earlier this year.
