Now it's a policeman who falls for the old trick

November 11, 2011 09:21 am | Updated 09:21 am IST - Bangalore:

In yet another case of trickery by distraction, a head constable of police, attached to the State Intelligence, lost Rs. 2.5 lakh in Varthur on the city's outskirts on Thursday.

Anjinappa (50) told the police he had withdrawn the cash from a bank on Varthur Main Road and kept it in a bag which he dangled from the handlebar of his two-wheeler.

He was riding home when he got a call on his cellphone and he stopped his vehicle. Two men arrived on a two-wheeler and drew Mr. Anjinappa's attention to a few hundred rupee notes lying on the road.

Mr. Anjinappa got down from his two-wheeler and started to collect the notes when the tricksters took away his cash bag and sped away.
