No fee hike for PG courses in government dental colleges

In the backdrop of diminishing demand, the State government has decided not to hike the fees for post-graduate course in government dental colleges for the 2019-20 academic year.

This will come as a relief to aspirants who were worried of a hike similar to the five-fold increase in fees for post-graduate courses in government medical colleges, announced on Thursday.

P.G. Girish, Director of the Department of Medical Education, said the fee in Government Dental College and Research Institute, Bangalore, would continue to be ₹50,000 per annum. In addition to this fee, students will have to pay university fee and hostel fees. The decision was taken at a meeting on Friday.

Only one government college in the State offers PG dental seats.

The fees for government quota and institutional quota seats in private dental colleges had been increased by 15% in February.
