Nilekani wants to contest Lok Sabha polls: G. Parameshwara

December 25, 2013 12:23 am | Updated November 16, 2021 09:09 pm IST - BANGALORE:

KPCC president G. Parameshwara on Tuesday claimed that Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) chairman Nandan Nilekani has evinced interest in contesting the Lok Sabha elections. However, the decision to give a ticket to Mr. Nilekani is left to the high command, he added.

He said that the KPCC is holding its executive committee meeting on Saturday to chalk out plans for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections and a co-ordination committee meeting on January 6, 2014 in Bangalore, under the chairmanship of AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh, who is in charge of Karnataka.

He expressed confidence that the Lok Sabha results would be a repeat of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly 2013 election results in the State.

Speaking to mediapersons on Tuesday, he said as per the direction of AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi, those who are holding two posts should make way for others by relinquishing one post.

Dr. Parameshwara said the Chief Minister and Minister for Kannada and Culture have already held discussions with the party leaders over appointment of chairpersons in all academies.

Regarding expansion of the Siddaramaiah ministry, Dr. Parameshwara said a decision in this regard would be taken by the Chief Minister and the High Command.

Dr. Parameshwara greeted the people of the State for Christmas.
