Starting Wednesday, Namma Metro users who have purchased Trip Count Tickets (Sanchar) will not be able to charge their smart cards. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited has decided to stop the sale of these tickets and focus on Stored Value Tickets (Varshik).
Sanchar ticket holders can continue to use the cards till the number of trips is completed. The same card can be used as a Varshik ticket, BMRCL said in a statement. In case users want to return the card, a refund will be provided.
Sanchar tickets were offered for commuters travelling between two fixed points. These tickets offered more discounts as compared to the Varshik cards, but were low in validity. Varshik cards have a one-year validity from the time of the last top-up.
