Namma Metro in Swachh Bharat campaign

October 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - Bengaluru:

The operations and maintenance staff of Namma Metro will participate in a month-long Swachh Bharat programme on Saturdays beginning October 17.

The campaign will be held between the Indiranagar Station and Halasur Station as well as Srirampura Station and Kuvempu Road Station between 10 a.m. and 12 noon. “We will be happy if citizens and trade associations along the corridor participate in our effort,” a BMRCL statement said. On October 24, staff along the Halasur Station to Trinity Station stretch as well as the Kuvempu Station and Rajajinagar Station will take part. Officials will also crack down on advertisements that deface metro pillars.

“When people come out in large numbers to join in keeping the city clean, such miscreants have to be dealt with in accordance with the law,” said U.A. Vasanth Rao, spokesperson, BMRCL.
