Rain could play spoilsport for what was supposed to be the first-of-its-kind assembly of Bengaluru musicians at ‘Kalabhiyana - 2015’ at Chennai’s Marghazi Music Season, which showcases 75 musicians, from December 11 to 13 at the TAG Centre. The event is being organised by Karnataka Fine Arts Council (KFAC).
“Even if the rain stops by then, water-logging and the logistics of 75 artistes reaching the city by train, air and road will pose a challenge. As of now, we are thinking of postponing Kalabhiyana-2015,” says R. R. Ravi Shankar of KFAC. “It is unfortunate as everybody has a tight schedule during the music season. It’s not just the problem of musicians reaching there. We have to have audiences coming in. It’s very disappointing, as KFAC’s showcase of Karnataka’s musician contingent is a rare event,” says Mr. Ravi Shankar.
Violinist Apoorva Krishna is scheduled to reach Chennai on December 5 to collect her Sangeetha Mudhra Award for Best Violinist at T-Nagar. Mridangist Akshay Anand, who was to participate in the Mudhra Fest and collect his Certificate of Merit, has decided to cancel his trip due to rain.
