Bangalore Electricity Supply Company will launch a mobile application which will enable consumers to get alerts about scheduled and unscheduled power cuts, Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Bescom Managing Director, has said.
He was speaking at ‘Bescom’s Top 100 HT Consumer Meet – 2015’ here on Wednesday.
The application, presently in beta stage, will be provided initially to consumers of high tension power. Later, it will be extended to all consumers who register for the application with their phone numbers. With the application, there will be no need for consumers to call up Bescom to find out if there will be power cut.
Consumers will also be able to effect changes in the name and other details online on the Bescom website instead of going to the jurisdictional office to fill out an application forms.
The power utility has a call centre to take consumers’ complaints.
‘Inform users’
One of the HT consumers at the meet said Bescom could resort to power outages, but must inform industrial users so that they could switch to captive generation. Another consumer alleged that lack of adequate deployment of manpower to rectify the problems in supply was causing the delay in resumption of power supply at the times of outages.
