Following allegations of sexual assault on a seven-year-old girl, a violent mob ransacked a school, thrashed the physical education instructor, and clashed with the police at Hosa Guddadahalli off Mysore road.
The physical education instructor, Ramakrishna (49), was assaulted by the angry crowd in front of schoolchildren before the police arrived at the spot. He was dragged by the mob even as the police were taking him into custody.
This is the 11th case of alleged sexual assault in a school by a member of the staff to be reported in the city over the last one year.
According to the girl’s parents, the incident came to light when she told them that the PE teacher had “undressed and abused her” on Tuesday during school hours.
Following this, the parents along with a few other residents of the locality went to the school on Wednesday morning and confronted the PE instructor and began assaulting him.
The parents had not filed a police complaint until late on Wednesday evening, but later a case was registered at the Byatarayanapura police station.
When the police were taking the instructor into custody, the mob turned violent and pelted stones and threw glass bottles at the police.
