Mob ransacks hospital over the death of a man

Tension prevailed at a private hospital in Mahalakshmi Layout when an agitated mob staged a protest alleging medical negligence leading to the death of a 53-year-old man on Monday.

According to the police, Venkatesh, was admitted to the ESI hospital in Rajaji Nagar three days ago with complaints of fever and body ache.

He was shifted to Spine Care and Ortho Care hospital in Mahalakshmi Layout on the doctor’s advise for advanced treatment on Sunday, but he succumbed later.

An enraged mob comprising his relatives and friends, suspecting medical negligence, ransacked the premises.

A complaint against the doctors has been filed with the Mahalakshmi Layout police. No arrests have been made so far. The family alleged that the doctors did not treat Venkatesh on time, resulting in his death.

Two killed Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in the city since Sunday.

P.V. Venkatarama Reddy (38), was killed when a BMTC bus knocked the bicycle he was riding on Old Airport Road on Sunday. Passersby rushed a profusely bleeding Mr. Reddy to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The Old Airport Road traffic police have registered a case.

In another incident, Gopalaiah (49) was killed on the spot in a hit-and-run incident on Singasandra Cross in Electronics City in the early hours of Monday. Passersby rushed to his help and shifted him to hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The Electronic city police registered a case.
