A 15-year-old girl was allegedly gang raped by three youths from her neighbourhood in Bengaluru on Wednesday afternoon.

J.P. Nagar police rounded up the three youths hours after the incident was reported on Wednesday night. Police confirmed that a preliminary report of the medical examination conducted on the girl at Victoria Hospital, has confirmed it to be a rape case.

The girl, a school drop-out was living with her grandmother in a slum in J.P. Nagar police limits. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at around 2 p.m., when the girl was alone at her house as her grandmother had been out on work.

The three youths, now arrested - Asai (19) a vegetable vendor, Santosh (21) a water can delivery boy and Ajay (21) an auto driver – are neighbours of the girl in the slum and had befriended her earlier. The gang lured the girl out with them and the gullible girl willingly went out with the gang to an under-construction building in a deserted spot in the area, where the three youths gang raped her. The sexual assault lasted for more than an hour, investigations have now revealed.

The youths threatened with dire consequences if the girl revealed the incident to anybody. The girl promised not to reveal the incident to anybody after which the gang let her go. She reported the incident to her grandmother after she returned from work, who approached the police and lodged a formal complaint.

J.P. Nagar police have now arrested the three youths and have booked them under POCSO Act, 2012 and under Section 376D of Indian penal code.
