Minister: will act against officials who colluded with developers

May 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - BENGALURU:

Bengaluru city in-charge Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Monday said that stringent action will be taken against officials who created fake land records and colluded with land developers to sell housing sites to innocent people. The BBMP has been on a demolition drive bringing down construction on lake beds.

Addressing presspersons, he said officials of various civic bodies, who are responsible for generating fake land records during the past 20-30 years, would be traced and action would initiated against them. Officials had colluded with real estate agencies and generated fake documents and sold sites.

Expressing helplessness at the demolition of hundreds of houses in Banasvadi lake bed and Sarakki lake bed, Mr. Reddy said the officials have been executing a Karnataka High Court order. “We cannot stop them from complying with court orders.”

Mr Reddy said the government would consider the request for rehabilitation of the families, which lost their homes in the demolition drives.
