Commuting from the north to the south of the city could take as less as 45 minutes once the entire Green Line of Namma Metro is operational, officials say. Currently, the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) is inspecting the section between Sampige Road and Yelachanahalli.
The line, which is expected to be opened to the public in June, will initially have a train every six minutes. The gap will be reduced based on demand. This is similar to what BMRCL did for the Purple Line.
“The new underground line will need some time to adjust to the trains. We will also have to observe the tracks closely. Once the trains have run for a few months, we can increase frequency based on the number of users,” an official said.
The CMRS is likely to submit a report with his recommendations this week, sources said. BMRCL will have to comply with the recommendations and present a compliance report to the CMRS. If satisfied, the CMRS will issue safety clearance.
