Looking for exquisite furniture from Madhya Pradesh, famous paintings from Tanjore, semi-precious jewellery from Jodhpur, rose wood items from Karnataka or silk scarves and Pashmina shawls from Kashmir? Your search ends at the cottage mela at Safina Plaza on Infantry Road in Bengaluru.

On till Jan. 18

The event, organised by the Central Cottage Industries Emporium, was inaugurated on Monday and will be on till January 18.

It aims to provide a direct platform between customers and 25 artisans, who are national and/or State awardees from various parts of the country.

M. Gururaj, Manager of Central Cottage Industries Emporium, said that the mela is a platform for customers to know the efforts made by the artisans and for artisans to gauge the interest and demands of customers.

Inayat Shah, Branch in-charge of the Central Cottage Industries Emporium, said that the highlight of the mela is furniture of teak wood having carvings of Dhokra art and Warli art of Maharashtra.

Ramya Dayanandan, a private company employee, was thrilled to find a variety of paintings and brass items at prices that are cheaper than in showrooms.
