Meeting on DBTL

January 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:06 am IST - Bengaluru:

Following complaints by consumers on the difficulties in linking bank account or Aadhaar numbers for Direct Benefit Transfer for LPG (DBTL), the Food and Civil Supplies Department has called for a meeting of oil companies, LPG distributors and lead banks.

Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Dinesh Gundu Rao said the meeting will be held after Sankranthi festival.

There have been complaints of some distributors insisting on Aadhaar even though it was not mandatory for cash transfer benefit.

The Minister said there was “no question” of freezing benefits in the absence of Aadhaar. There have also been complaints on systemic problems, such as delay on the part of banks to link Aadhaar numbers with bank accounts of customers.
