A 30-year-old man from Chandigarh was arrested on charge of deceiving over 30 girls by promising to marry them and cheating them of Rs. 25 lakh.
The Central Crime Branch officials identified the arrested man as Manoj Googia, who was picked up from his rented apartment in New Thippasandra after police officials from New Delhi sought the CCB’s help in tracking him.
The CCB sleuths said Googia used to upload his fake profile on all the matrimonial sites posing as a techie in a reputed MNC and lure women.
Promising to get them electronic goods at a concession, he would convince gullible women to transfer the money to his account and later dupe them.
Using the same modus operandi, the police said he has cheated over 20 women across the country, including a few from the city.
They said that Googia even claimed to have had a physical relationship with a few of his victims.
He had tattoos all over his body and would wear expensive apparels whenever he went out to meet the gullible girls. He has now been handed over to the Delhi police for further investigations.
