A 28-year-old man was arrested for allegedly attacking his wife’s friend at Yeshwanthpur bus stand on Tuesday morning.
The accused, Siddharama, a manual labourer, has been married to Renuka, a homemaker, for six years. The couple have a four-year-old child.
Police said that Siddharama had been suspecting the nature of his wife’s relationship with Rafiq, a common friend who runs a bakery in Gulbarga. The couple too are from Gulbarga and have known Rafiq for a long time.
Siddharama had warned Renuka to keep away from Rafiq. Despite this, she had accompanied Rafiq on a tour of various places, including Ooty and Bangalore. They left a week ago, police said.
On Tuesday morning, Siddharama’s mother called Renuka and asked the duo to meet her at Yeshwanthpur bus stand. The duo was not aware that Siddharama too would be there. When they went to the bus stand, Siddharama allegedly attacked Rafiq with a stone. Police said a beat constable patrolling nearby nabbed Siddharama. Rafiq is undergoing treatment in the ICU of Columbia Asia Hospital and is out of danger. The police have registered a case of attempt to murder against Siddharama.
