The police are on the lookout for a man who allegedly assaulted a woman riding a scooter at a fuel station in Basaveshwara Nagar on Thursday night. The accused, who was also riding a scooter, attacked her when she questioned him for damaging her two-wheeler. CCTV footage, which went viral on social media on Sunday, showed the man slapping and kicking the woman.

In her complaint, the woman said she went to the fuel station near Siddaiah Puranik Road at 8.15 p.m. While she was there, a man on a scooter with his wife riding pillion hit her two-wheeler.

When she questioned him, the motorist allegedly slapped her. Witnesses intervened and took him aside but while leaving the area, he again started abusing her. When she retorted, he came back and kicked her before driving off.

“The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras. We have traced the vehicle and its owner, but are yet to make an arrest,” said the police.
