The Lokayukta sleuths on Monday nabbed a driver and a home-guard red-handed for taking bribe of Rs. 9,600 from the owner of a truck for an official favour. The accused worked for the Electronic City Regional Transport Office.

The accused, S. Rajanna and A. Shankar, attached with Electronic City RTO, took a bribe of Rs 3,200 from each truck driver to allow overloading. After collecting the bribe, the accused would give a token to the truck driver to show it at the check point to ensure safe passage.

One of the truck-drivers, identified as Umapriya, was harassed by Rajanna and his associates to pay the bribe amount.

Unable to pay the bribe, Umapriya informed the Lokayukta officials who laid a trap and arrested Rajanna and Shankar red-handed.

The duo has been booked under Prevention of Corruption Act and remanded in to judicial custody.
