For the first time, the State legislature will hold its extended session of the budget in Belagavi from July 1 to 10.
The legislature session would continue in Bengaluru from July 13 to 24. The State Cabinet, which would meet in the next few days, would decide the final dates and number of session days, sources in the State secretariat told The Hindu .
The government had so far conducted only winter session of the legislature in Belagavi.
During the session, both houses of the Legislature would pass the State Budget. In March, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is also the Finance Minister, obtained a vote on account for the first four months of the financial year.
As per the Karnataka Conduct of Government Business in the State Legislature Act 2005, the two Houses have to meet for at least 60 days in a calendar year. By and large, this has been observed more in the breach given the reluctance of the government to meet.
