Last rites of Gadasalli to be held in Texas

June 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - Bengaluru:

The family of Suresh Gadasalli, a cardiologist from the city who was shot dead in Odessa, Texas, U.S., on Thursday where he was practising, is in a state of shock and found wanting as to what led to the tragic turn of events.

Anand Chikkodi, brother-in-law of Gadasalli, told The Hindu that Ayyasamy Thangam, who shot the doctor and later himself, was a close family friend and business associate.

“Thangam’s wife is a practising doctor in Odessa. The two families have known each other for at least a decade now. My sister told us the relation between the two had not soured to the best of her knowledge. She is also groping in the dark unaware of what led to this,” he said. Mr. Anand said the autopsy was expected to be carried out on Monday and Gadasalli’s body would be handed over to the family by Tuesday. “The last rites will be held in Odessa likely on Wednesday,” he said.

Gadasalli’s father resides on Kanakapura Road, family sources said.
