A construction labourer was critically injured when a lift used to transport construction material collapsed on him at an under-construction building in Kamakshipalya on Monday.

The injured man, Chiranjeevi (24), was rushed to BGS Global Hospital; he is said to be in a critical condition.

According to the police, the incident occurred at Aditya Components, an electrical spare parts manufacturing unit at Pete Chenapalli Industrial Estate on Magadi Road. Chiranjeevi went to check the material stacked on a different floor. When he put his head out of a window, the lift used for transporting construction material, coming from an upper floor, hit his head, said the police.

Hearing his screams, fellow workers rushed him to a hospital. The Kamakshipalya police have taken up a case of negligence against the contractor.
