The third entry at KSR City Railway station was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi on Saturday.

The third entry at KSR City Railway station was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi on Saturday.

Commuters can look forward to easy access to platforms at Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna City Railway Station following the inauguration of a third entry point on Saturday by Union Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi.

The new entry point will decongest the main entry and provide access to passengers coming from Majestic Intersection metro station.

The South Western Railways has spent ₹1.65 crore for the third entry, including provision for parking of vehicles. The City Railway Station receives close to 2 lakh footfall every day.

Though, the SWR has provided a third entry point, passengers coming from the metro station are still awaiting a skywalk to help them access City Railway Station safely. The BBMP is yet to complete building a much-needed foot overbridge across Gubbi Thotadappa Road.

At the inaugural function, Mr. Angadi directed SWR officials to fix the problem of leakage of waste water from the railway overbridge (ROB) whenever a train passes by. The issue was earlier raised by Mayor Gangambike Mallikarjun.

Leakage of waste water from RoBs, including in the Central Business District, are an inconvenience to motorists, especially those on two-wheelers. More often than not, motorists have to wait for trains to pass before driving under an RoB.

“If the SWR fails to fix the problem within the deadline, they will invite action,” said Mr. Angadi.

Bengaluru Central Member of Parliament P.C. Mohan suggested shifting the Container Corporation of India depot and a goods terminal in Whitefield to a location outside Bengaluru. This will free up 350 acres, which can be used for the proposed expansion of the suburban rail network in the city.
