An eight-year-old boy was kidnapped near his home in Byatarayanapura, but was rescued by the police four hours after his family filed a complaint.
The boy, a fourth standard student, is the son of Imtiaz Pasha, who runs a business of utensils and steel items. He was standing outside his house on Wednesday afternoon when two persons approached and sought directions to his father’s store. They persuaded the boy to get on the bike.
As the boy was nowhere to be seen, his parents searched for him in and around the area. In the evening, the boy’s uncle got a call. The caller demanded a ransom of Rs. 50,000.
The family approached the police around 7 p.m. DCP (West) Labhu Ram said, “Immediately after the complaint was registered, two teams were formed to trace the kidnappers. We tracked the call and found that the kidnappers had taken the boy to a few places. We found him in Manjunathanagar, which is close to his house.”
However, the kidnappers were nowhere to be seen. The boy was reunited with his family.
Police said that the culprits must have been alerted about the police trying to track them down. They have got CCTV camera footage of the duo. An officer said, “We definitely know that two persons were involved but are investigating if they had other associates.”
