A law student, riding pillion on a motorcycle, was killed in an accident as the bike rider collided head-on with another motorcycle near Dairy Circle on Monday night.

The deceased, Anand Mathew (20), is the son of a sitting Kerala High Court Judge, Babu Mathew. Anand was in the fourth semester of B.A. LL.B. at Christ College in Bengaluru and was staying in a flat in Jayanagar.

He was riding pillion with his friend Prince and the two were on their way to Jayanagar. The traffic police said that Prince was over-speeding and lost control over the motorcycle as he jumped a lane and collided head on with another motorcycle.

The duo fell on the road due to the impact of the collision. While Prince escaped with minor injuries, Anand suffered a severe head injury and was taken to St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, where he succumbed to injuries in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The Mico Layout Traffic police have booked Prince on charges of rash and negligent driving and causing death due to negligence.
