Chief Justice ordered the BBMP to clear all illegal buntings, flex, banners and hoarding from all over Bengaluru, on Wednesday.

Taking serious view on menace of illegal flex and banners across city, the Karnataka High Court on Wednesday morning set a deadline till 2.30 pm to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to remove all illegal banners, bunting and flex boards.

Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, heading Division Bench with Justice R. Devdas, issued direction in the morning in this regard to BBMP counsel as soon as court session began this morning.

Chief Justice summoned the BBMP counsel to the court as soon as the Bench assembled and issued directions.

Pointing out that there is a Public Interest Litigation listed at serial number 99 on the board, the Chief Justice told BBMP counsel that all illegal banners, etc should be removed by the time the Bench takes up hearing on the PIL petition.

The Bench questioned should the BBMP require directions to the civil body to execute the duties as per law.  The Bench also said that it will have to infer that administration if the BBMP has collapsed if no effective action is taken by the civic body.

The Bench also cautioned the BBMP that it can appoint court commissioner to verify removal of illegal banners.
