Power supply to the Namma Metro train in Malleswaram was stopped for five minutes on Saturday to save a juvenile kite found on the tracks.

The fledgling was rescued, is safe and will survive, said Vasantha Rao, General Manager (Finance), Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation Limited (BMRCL), who, along with Pradeep Singh Kharola, Managing Director, BMRCL, gave instructions that the train be stopped by blocking power.

The rescue took place between 10 a.m. and 10.15 a.m., said Mr. Rao. He said it was a good thing that the fledgling could not fly; otherwise it would have hit the power lines and been electrocuted.
