September 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - Bengaluru:

Janata Dal (Secular) State president H.D. Kumaraswamy on Monday formally announced his party’s alliance with the Congress in the BBMP.

He told presspersons that KPCC president G. Parameshwara and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had spoken to him over phone. “Although there have been several instances wherein both the national parties have used the JD(S) for their vested interest, I am making it clear that we will extend unconditional support to the Congress in the best interest of the city,” he said.

Mr. Kumaraswamy said he will also meet the KPCC chief in person, if required. He said the city MLAs would decide on any power sharing and prominent posts for the JD(S). This, only if the Congress offers any post to the JD(S) as a courtesy following the tie-up between the two parties, he said.
