Theatre enthusiasts flocked to Chowdiah Memorial Hall on Sunday to watch Ratan Thiyam’s interpretation of Macbeth.

This was the last play staged as part of this year’s edition of The Hindu MetroPlus Theatre Fest. Although the play was in Manipuri, it garnered good response. The festival opened on Friday with the Indo-Korean production ‘Beyond Binary’, which discussed the issue of limiting gender identities. This was followed by the play ‘Colour Blind’ that portrayed Rabindranath Tagore’s life and works in a new light. The performance that had Mumbai actors, including film actor Kalki Koechlin, was witnessed by a packed house.

The festival was staged in Chennai and Bangalore simultaneously this weekend. It will be held in Hyderabad from August 22 to 24.
