A 26-year-old software professional allegedly committed suicide, and her body was found hanging from the ceiling in her room in Jayanagar on Thursday morning.

The police identified the deceased as D.K. Arpitha, hailing from Maddur, who reportedly came to the city around two years ago and was working with a multinational IT firm in Bommanahalli. She is survived by her mother and brother.The police suspect that she took the extreme step after her parents objected to her marrying her boyfriend. Her brother reportedly told the police that she was in love with Sathish, an auto driver, from the same village.

Arpitha was living in a rented house with her brother and she is said to have ended her life after her brother left for work. A case of unnatural death has been registered in Jayanagar police station.
