It takes four people to touch the screen for the virtual map of erstwhile princely States to come alive. It is one of the exhibits at the interactive digital exhibition currently under way at the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum.
The interactive exhibition is a first for the city. It is part of ‘Uniting India: Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’, an initiative of Digital Exhibition United India. It was inaugurated by Governor Vajubhai Vala on Friday.
It focuses on the life and works of India’s first home minister Sardar Vallabhai Jhaveribhai Patel. “A brainchild of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this exhibition is a tribute to the unparalleled and exceptional efforts of Sardar Patel in integrating India at the time of Independence by convincing the rulers of princely States to join India,” said Sajoo Bhaskaran, chief curator of the exhibition.
The exhibition tries to bring to life the era of Independence and Sardar Patel’s contribution to the freedom struggle as well as his legacy with the help of touch-screen tablets, life-like sculptures and interactive installations.
The month-long event will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on all days till June 30.
