The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the I Monetary Advisory (IMA) Group investment scam, on Monday, arrested Kumar, Executive Engineer in the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), from his flat at Jayanagar and recovered several documents pertaining to the case.
According to officials, Kumar had taken ₹4 crore from IMA Group founder and managing director Mohammed Mansoor Khan for an official favour, which is being investigated. Mansoor Khan, in his first audio message, claimed that Kumar had taken money from him.
The accused was taken into custody and produced in court.
In another development, the SIT raided Frontline Pharma outlets, owned by Mansoor Khan, and recovered pharmaceutical products, electronic goods and cash amounting to ₹74 lakh. The searches and seizures are part of the investigation, a senior police officer added.
On Sunday, the SIT had arrested nominated BBMP councillor Syed Mujahid from his house on M.M. Road in Pulakeshinagar in connection with the scam. Mujahid was involved in financial transactions with Mansoor Khan, according to the police.
An SUV, two mobile phones, and several documents pertaining to the IMA Group of companies were recovered from his house.
During questioning, Mujahid claimed to have gone into hiding for two weeks after coming under the scanner of the IMA. He had returned home recently to meet his family.
